How this boy’s precious life can be destroyed like this? Genocide, rape, brainwash and blackmail, many kinds of sins are explained in this film. While I was watching this film I wanted to skip and turn off it many times. Simply, I just don’t want to watch it.

Moreover, the boys in the film are victims and at the same time, they are perpetrators. Before I watched this film my image of boy soldier was innocent children because they brainwashed by adults and they were doing what they don’t want to do it. However, even the start was brainwash and blackmail, boys are making own decisions. Finally, they decided to kill men and rape women. Additionally, the commander was afraid of betrayal from boys and I realised that the commander is also suffering in poverty.

Overall, it is really important to care about boy soldiers. If you hate to watch blood, do not watch this film but if you are OK, please watch it because it is something that is happening in this world.

「惨い。」

日常生活で使う場面のないこの言葉ですが、この映画の感想を一言で表すのならこの言葉がぴったりだと思いました。

貧しくも幸せな少年の人生がここまで狂うのかと、2時間の映画の中で何度も早送りや見るのをやめようかと思いました。というのも、虐殺やレイプ、恐喝に洗脳。わかりやすい”悪”たちがこの映画には集約されており、そのすべてが少年に降りかかっていました。そして、そのすべてがかなり鮮明に映し出されていました。虐殺やレイプという行為、概念は理解しているつもりでしたが、映像で受ける衝撃は相当なものです。

何よりも、救いようがないのが、狂わされた少年達は被害者でもあり、加害者でもあるということです。この映画をみる以前は”少年兵”という存在は洗脳され、脅されているから悪くはないという認識でした。けれども、この映画から受けた印象は虐殺やレイプを進んで少年兵たちがおこなっていたということです。始まりは洗脳や脅しではあるものの、最終的には少年たちが判断してその行為に及んでいるのです。少年兵たちを取り仕切っている司令官も裏切りや立場を失うこと、貧困に苦しみその弱さが描かれていました。

改めて少年兵たちの心のケアを行う重要性を感じました。血を見るのが苦手な方にはお勧めしませんが、ぜひ、現実に起きていることとしてこの映画を見ていただきたいです。
